Bike Love News #17 - November 27, 2022

It's been a while! Thank you for visiting this little blog and having a look around. The goal here is to share stories of the many ways bikes just make life better. Please let me know what you think - I'd appreciate the feedback. A New Trail Will Make It Safer and Easier to Bike from Chicago to Michigan via Block Club Chicago Or...from Michigan to Chicago. Either way, this is pretty cool. Once complete, folks will be able to ride a paved, dedicated trail along the  58-mile Marquette Greenway which will use existing trails and new construction to connect Chicago’s Southeast Side with downtown New Buffalo, Michigan. It's a round up of interesting stories about bikes and how they just make life better. Hope you enjoy and please let me know what you think.  Community invited to finish painting bike friendly Kalamazoo mural via WWMT I shared a story about this mural last week and the story keeps getting better. Now the local residents have been invited to help finish painting the mural. Nice. It's intended to help create a more bike-friendly community, which of course is cool. Pop-up bike lanes in Kalamazoo via WWMT OK, Kalamazoo seems to be working toward becoming a very bike friendly city. As they're working through road construction, they're also installing pop-up bike lanes - new bike lanes that will eventually be protected by bollards. It's part of a pilot to track traffic patterns. Magic of Music bike rides connect people to the community via StreetsBlog Chicago I have many bike-related Venn diagrams. This effort from non-profit Equiticity combines biking, music and community. I rather love the author's description of their riding experience: " One of the most fun things about the ride was how it instantly activated the areas it passed through. People hanging out on the street or waiting for a bus at first looked surprised by the booming music and group of mostly Black and Latino folks on bikes, and then delighted, moving their bodies to the beat.
